Police confirm murder of Bayelsa butchers’ ex-leader

The Bayelsa State Police Command on Wednesday confirmed the murder of Mr



Chibuzor Nwachukwu, a former chairman of the state Butchers Association.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, a Superintendent of Police, said that Nwachukwu was killed on Tuesday in Yenagoa.

It was gathered that Nwachuku, 42, was killed by yet-to-be identified gunmen at Ovom area of the state capital, Yenagoa, on Tuesday evening.

He was said to be returning home after work when his assailants shot him in the head and he died on the spot.

It was learnt that the victim was killed near his residence.

The armed bandits reportedly went away with an undisclosed sum of money believed to be his sales for the day.

Butswat, who confirmed the incident in a text message to our correspondent said, “On 24th September 2019, about 2000hours, unknown gunmen shot and killed one Chibuzor Nwachukwu, ‘m’, 42 years, at Ogilo Street, Yenagoa.

“The police have visited the scene of crime and investigation has commenced.”
